JobCairn terms of use

1. These terms

These terms apply when you download, install or use the JobCairn desktop app ("the app"). By using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app. We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.

2. Free during early access

The app is free during early access. If that ever changes, we'll say so on this site first, and you won't be charged for anything you haven't agreed to.

3. Your Claude plan

The app does its reading and writing through Claude Code, signed in to your own Claude account. You need a Claude plan that includes Claude Code.
Your use of Claude is between you and Anthropic, under Anthropic's terms for your account. Read Anthropic's consumer terms.
Work done in the app counts toward your plan's usage limits. Cost figures in the app are Claude Code's own estimates, not charges from us.
JobCairn is an independent product. It isn't made by or affiliated with Anthropic.

4. Job sites and other services

You're responsible for following the terms of every job site and service you use with the app, including SEEK, LinkedIn, Indeed and Gmail.
When you connect Chrome, the app reads job ads in your own browser. It doesn't apply for jobs or message anyone for you.
Nothing is sent from your email account until you approve it.

5. What Claude writes for you

Claude can make mistakes. Check every score, resume, cover letter and email before you use it. You're responsible for what you send.
Sponsorship and work-rights information comes from job ads and public sources. It isn't migration or legal advice.
Your files and what you make with the app are yours.

6. The voice model and AI-voice videos

Listen and the narrated videos use the Supertonic 3 voice model by Supertone, which is licensed under the BigScience Open RAIL-M License. That licence requires everyone who uses the model to follow its use-based restrictions (paragraph 5 and Attachment A). Paragraph 5 says: "You shall require all of Your users who use the Model or a Derivative of the Model to comply with the terms of this paragraph (paragraph 5)." By using these features you agree to them.

Every video the app makes carries an "AI voice" mark. Don't remove, cover or crop it.
When you share a video or audio you made with the app, say clearly that the voice is machine generated.

The restrictions, quoted from Attachment A of the licence:

You agree not to use the Model or Derivatives of the Model:

In any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation;

For the purpose of exploiting, harming or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way;

To generate or disseminate verifiably false information and/or content with the purpose of harming others;

To generate or disseminate personal identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual;

To generate or disseminate information and/or content (e.g. images, code, posts, articles), and place the information and/or content in any context (e.g. bot generating tweets) without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that the information and/or content is machine generated;

To defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;

To impersonate or attempt to impersonate (e.g. deepfakes) others without their consent;

For fully automated decision making that adversely impacts an individual’s legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation;

For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics;

To exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behavior of a person pertaining to that group in a manner that causes or is likely to cause that person or another person physical or psychological harm;

For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories;

To provide medical advice and medical results interpretation;

To generate or disseminate information for the purpose to be used for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes, such as predicting an individual will commit fraud/crime commitment (e.g. by text profiling, drawing causal relationships between assertions made in documents, indiscriminate and arbitrarily-targeted use).

7. Using the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the app on your own computers.
Don't sell, rent or redistribute the app, or present it as your own. We publish the app, not its source code.
Parts of the app made by others stay under their own licences.

8. Provided as is

The app is an early access release. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that it will find you a job, that it will be free of errors, or that it will always be available. Keep a backup of your JobCairn folder.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, lost opportunities or lost data from using the app.

9. Stopping

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. Your JobCairn folder stays on your computer until you delete it.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Nothing in them limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
